An insider’s perspective on the current markets and the auction industry

The San Diego Chapter of ASA, is proud to present a discussion on the current state of the auction markets. To many people, the inner workings of major auction houses are a mystery as well as how auction estimates are created by experts in the field.

Garrett Goldfield, will present information on the current state of the auction market for antiques, art and collectibles. His discussion will cover such topics as:

• What is hot in the auction world and what areas are declining
• How the auction markets are fairing in the down economy
• The inside story on auction estimates and what they mean
• A discussion of what appraisers need to be aware of before they can use the input of auction experts to influence their appraisal valuations

Garrett Goldfield of Goldfield Appraisals is a personal property appraiser and was the regional representative for Bonham’s & Butterfield’s Auction house for the territory including San Diego county and Palm Springs.  Garrett comes from a family of fine art, antiques dealers and appraisers.  He has several years of experience as an appraiser of antiques, collectibles, and residential contents.  Garrett has been active in in ASA’s San Diego Chapter for several years, serving on the chapter’s board and in various chapter positions.
