ASA tests and accredits members in many different disciplines and specialty areas of expertise. Accreditation requires, amongst other things, passing rigorous technical examinations as well as peer review of the applicant's appraisal reports.
The International American Society of Appraisers (ASA) is the oldest, non-profit professional appraisal organization and the only one that is multi-disciplinary, meeting the professional needs of appraisers of all types of property. It is dedicated to the education and certification of those appraisers who meet the highest qualifications for appraisal practice.
ASA is organized into Chapters with regular educational meetings conveniently located in urban regional centers. San Diego is Chapter #84, serving the San Diego Region.
While attendance at meetings is open to all with an interest in either a professional appraisal career or in the types of property discussed at meetings, membership is only available through ASA International.
